We did my first ever “live coaching” on IG Live last Thursday with Victoria.
We coached around the root cause of her turning to “The Sugars” (I love this description Victoria!) to numb out feeling tired and ideas on how to get the energy she needs. And then Katie and I discuss different treatment options for binge eating disorder.

My top three take-aways from this IG Live:
1. There’s a difference between physical and emotional tiredness. Effectively working through our emotional eating requires us to get nuanced and clear on our root causes so we have the right, targeted solutions.
2. The competitor comfort eating pattern usually ends in us not feeling enough from comparison. While I encouraged Victoria to “connect not compare” to boost her energy, it’s also important to orient towards energizing connection.
In Victoria’s example of her not smart enough doubts, it’s asking herself what sort of smarts does she value and want to learn? Emotional intelligence? Body intelligence? Risk-taking? Creativity? What choices and conversations would prevent tiredness and promote enthusiasm?
3. One way to promote a healthy relationship with food for kids? Katie’s great approach to not reward kids with food. Eça’s too young for food agency but I know soon enough, I’ll try to implement this idea myself.
