As I started to accept the reality that quick fixes like detoxes, cleanses and diets don’t work, I would still find myself picking up the magazine with “The New 5-Day Fix You’ve (Miraculously) Never Heard of That Will Get You In Shape by Summer!”
Intellectually I knew these claims were bogus (it only took me 18 years to figure this out!). But emotionally, I was hooked. This happens to many of my clients because while they know diets and detoxes aren’t sustainable, they don’t know (yet), what will be.
And that is a scary place. Because it feels like resignation.
And so you start justifying to yourself, “I know (Insert “If Only It Where That Easy” clickbait headline) isn’t the answer but it will jump-start my results and then I’ll cut back on carbs and sign-up for a bootcamp.”
What’s tricky about food is that some of our understanding is true. Minimizing sugar, alcohol and refined carbs like chips, bagels, and the bread basket will help you lose weight.
But carbs are not your problem.
They are the solution to a variety of underlying root issues.
Einstein said if he had an hour to save the world, he’d spend more time defining the problem accurately than on the solution.
And because most of the well-known nutrition experts aren’t coaches, they give only food tips and to-dos. That feels great. In the moment.
Being the good student you are, you light a candle and journal about what you really need at that moment (and what you hear is cookies). You eliminate alcohol for 10 7 days. You add chia seeds to your smoothies.
But these new habits don’t last. The results aren’t enough to keep you motivated. And so you start to feel like you don’t care.
You unwind with wine or a sweet after dinner to reward yourself from the discipline and stress required for more effort. It’s a vicious cycle.
Being tortured by carbs is not your life’s purpose.
But putting that energy into your full potential is.
So, I am teaching this course, 7-Day Carb Craving Reboot, for free!
I want you to know what will work. I don’t want you to waste more energy, time and money on gimmicks.
Here’s what you’ll learn in this 7-Day Carb Craving Reboot:
- Act 1: Good carbs: what they are and the four times they make sense in your diet
- Act 2: Bad carbs: why you think you love carbs, but don’t really
- Act 3: Less is more: How adding more healthy habits backfires to cause more carb cravings and what to do instead
- Act 4: How to make “bad” carbs good
Along with this top-notch nutrition information, after this free course you’ll walk away with a new mindset around how to achieve your weight loss goals.
We begin Tuesday, March 31. You’ll get a new lesson every other day, and then the course will culminate with a private call with me on April 7 to answer any questions you have from the lessons. Join in by clicking the image below.
Research study after study show you go further with group support. I suggest inviting one or two friends you know who also want to be challenged to be their best. It’s easy to do by clicking the appropriate button at the bottom of this email. Think of that friend or relative who you always know is up for new horizon and could use incredible peace around carbs!
This course is also a mini-preview of my Truce with Food program which begins here in under a month. And, it’s the only time I will be running it this year.
This spring, summer and the rest of your life can be different … if you do things differently. Here’s your invitation.
Be well,
Ali
