While eating healthfully is important to me, I discovered in my own Truce with Food transformation (as many clients do), that I actually don’t want to spend much time thinking about and preparing food.
We often forgo healthy eating in favor of Uber Eats when we have a deep need for ease. And not just with food.
How many of us are craving ease in this post-COVID transition?
Many are feeling overwhelmed right now. Many of us are re-evaluating our lives as we wonder, how can I have so much on my plates yet feel underwhelmed (and then eat because we deserve something and what’s easier than food)?
Craving ease is also an emotional driver for weight loss. We’re sold weight loss as a magic bullet to ease. When I lose weight, it will be:
- Easier to go shopping for clothes.
- Easier to have more confidence.
- Easier to be the real us.
The list goes on.
Part of having a Truce with Food is recognizing and honoring our craving for ease. Because many of us don’t trust ease (which is different than easy).
And there’s wisdom to that skepticism. The most worthwhile things in life are the hardest. Yet a healthy amount of ease elsewhere provides the capacity for life’s inevitable challenges and the bigger goals.
A big step towards ease with food is eliminating the “build up” of meal planning and prepping. It’s learning easy, delicious and healthy recipes.
Here are three recipes I’ve found make healthy eating really easy in our home:
The more we bring ease to food, the more we can trust emotional ease. And from here we can more easily take the leap towards soul ease. This is how we truly make a Truce with Food and gain life-changing food freedom.
