I went to Ali as I was approaching a milestone birthday, with the hopes of having the best, healthiest body when I turned 40. I came away with so much more than a healthy body. I now have a new life that doesn't feel at all limited. On the contrary, getting healthier and educated (and inspired!) has made me feel so fulfilled and energized, in a way that food never could. Ali changed my life beyond health and nutrition. She made me a better person, and made me see the world - and all of it's possibilities - in a brighter light.

I came to Ali after a diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, coupled with chronic migraines and depression. I was tired all the time and spent the little energy I had counting calories and obsessing over those last 10 lbs. I was so consumed with my weight and body that it hindered by ability to enjoy life as a young adult. She made my goals attainable by breaking them down into an easy, step-by-step process. When I encountered a set-back, she wasn’t judgmental or critical, and was often able to relate to what I was dealing with. After working with Ali, I no longer waste hours at the gym. I’ve found Bikram yoga and love exercise now; and if I miss days at a time without exercising, I no longer feel guilty or punish myself. I am able to listen to my body and realize what foods and portions work for me. Without food and exercising consuming me, my energy has skyrocketed.

After spending most days eating fast food and being sedentary, I was starting to feel the effects. My diet didn't sit well anymore and I felt tired most of the time. In working with her, I realized that I had an unhealthy relationship with food. Having relied on processed food most of my adult life, I thought that eliminating it from my diet would feel limiting, but Ali introduced me to new vegetables and other delicious foods. After learning what food companies really do to food, I realize that not paying attention to the food that I eat can really hurt me. I'm trying to eat more seasonally now, and no longer feel the need to drink anything sugary with meals. I couldn’t have achieved this without Ali.

At the beginning of our sessions together, my main focus was to end my cravings and bring closure to an almost twenty year cycle of trying different diet and exercise programs. By working with Ali, I began a transformation not only with my eating but also with my life. I have begun to cultivate new interests (singing and songwriting!) and have learned how to nourish myself without always turning to food for comfort. My frenzied schedule has become more calm, I am finding more productive ways to deal with people and feel empowered as a result. I feel more relaxed, sleep better, and have more energy each day. My chronic sinusitis has subsided significantly, and my weight fluctuations have ended. Ali is an exceptional listener, and always has timely advice and resources that enhance whatever we’re discussing. In addition, her nonjudgmental nature makes room for open, honest conversation. I especially enjoyed the weekly goal-setting and follow-up e-mails. Ali’s knowledge of mind/body health is extensive, and I always left our sessions feeling energized, inspired, and filled with new, exciting information. Ali certainly possesses the expertise and personality to help anyone achieve success!

When I first met with Ali, it was an emergency situation. At 26, my cholesterol was over 280 points, my triglycerides were out of control, and I was 40 pounds overweight. I had stomach problems, migraines, and a variety of other issues. I had seen doctor after doctor, but none could give me an explanation or relief. Ali immediately recognized a pattern in my symptoms and suggested I try eliminating gluten for 2 weeks. Since I eat out for almost every meal, it was hard at first. But then I started to feel better, and realized I had a lot of options. After 3 months of being completely gluten-free, I felt better than ever. I dropped 4 dress sizes and 96 points from my cholesterol simply by shifting my diet and incorporating simple exercise. I’m an entirely new person who looks forward to eating, buying clothes, and living a healthy life – all thanks to Ali!

I’ve always valued living a healthy life, but I wanted teach me how to make the right choices for my individual lifestyle. As a result of working with Ali, I have made peace with food. My body feels so good, there’s no way I could fill myself up with the foods that make me feel sluggish. When I cut gluten out of my diet, my crippling PMS went away. And this one is my favorite: I found the courage to leave a job that was toxic and limiting. Now, I have much more energy to give to the people in my family and community. I am calmer. I am kinder. I am more adventurous. I trust myself. (And I thought at the outset that we were just going to talk about calories!) My time with Ali was life-changing.
