Due to a mismatch of socio-political-religious reasons, medical research, including psychoanalysis, has been dominated through a male lens. Zoom in and there is a controversy in the role emotions influence human decision-making and the body. As a result, the calming of one’s first cry, when food and mothering would be forever connected to the emotion of love, safety, and satisfaction, isn’t sufficiently understood—and the majority of women are left with a mysterious relationship with food and no way out.
Male doctors who provide theoretical science but can’t explain the real world “why” women don’t stick with any of their plans, create most mainstream diets. Bridging and organizing this gap is my signature process. Transforming a woman’s relationship to food requires redesigning her lifestyle to one that emotionally nourishes, exempting food as the surrogate problem. Feeling elegant around food becomes the norm making nutritional follow through simple. Otherwise, logically savvy professional powerhouses, mothers, and citizens will unpack their emotions on their plates.
Your Home, Your Emotional Body
Through work with clients, I have found that the comparison of the body to a temple is warranted. The comparison of a body to a home is undeniable. Not surprisingly, the home reflects the body. Many people relate that a messy home makes them feel scattered like the laundry on their floor. They wonder— is the house a mess because I am a mess or the other way around? Both: our physical space is a reflection of ourselves.

Likewise, your body is a reflection of your emotions. And your feelings about your body influence how you think about yourself. Yoga calls it the Chakras and the leading Neuroscientists reattach the mind-body-brain connection that Descartes tragically severed to understand that the mind is embodied, not just “embrained.”
If you want to lose weight, you must lose the emotional clutter. Just as Crate & Barrel sells the prospect of an organized minimalist life and Anthropologie the romance of the French countryside, women often try to buy a lifestyle of ease and glamour sold through equally mass marketed diet plans.
However, multiple orders of restaurant dishware and couches can’t transport customers into a life that is like a crisp, white clean slate; silk bedding and ruffled dresses aren’t a magic ticket into the pages of studied rustic perfection. And, a certain number on a scale or on the tag of a dress alone can’t give a woman the lightness and happiness that she hopes it will magically deliver.
Using the home as a metaphor, I show my clients and groups which emotional rooms are sabotaging their weight-loss efforts. I show them how to reorganize and declutter these muddy emotions, the ones that create a feeling of chaos, exhaustion and intense carb cravings. As their eating and emotions become simplified, they feel lighter in body and mind.
After emotionally detoxing, one avoids the decorating mistake of excess—and prevents an entire sleeve of cookies accenting you and the couch. Weight-loss becomes equally simplified as emotional fullness leaves little room for big portions and reasons for going off-track.
The entryway into my process is my acclaimed Truce with Food program, which balances and energizes the body through nutritional choices appropriate for your unique body while providing the clarity to understand where you need to focus in your own emotional home.
My private client work includes the same nutrition process and emotional work, but on a deeper, more customized level.
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.
My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.
Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.
Here are some concepts that we will explore during our work together:
Bio-individuality™: The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background. I use a personalized, holistic approach to ensure that you will have great success!
Primary Food™: It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
Integrative Nutrition Pyramid™: The Integrative Nutrition food pyramid includes a balance of high quality vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, healthy fats and water. To complete the picture, the pyramid is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!
